Epson is one of the largest manufacturers of printers and imaging equipment in the world. With a legacy spanning over seven decades, the Japanese company is one of the names synonymous with printers. Recognized as the first company to develop the electronic printer, Epson is well known for Japanese quality and precision.
The Epson WorkForce WF-7710DWF is an offering from Epson that suits a small office, a home office, or a home that needs to print anywhere between 200 to 2,500 pages per month. It comes equipped with a large 10.9-cm color touchscreen and well-spaced keys easy to work with.
The printer is compatible with Mac OS 10.5.8 or later and most Windows operating systems. The Epson WorkForce WF-7710DWF weighs 18.7 kg and has dimensions of 567 x 452 x 340 mm (width x depth x height). The main unit ships with the driver and utilities (CD), individual ink cartridges, power cable, quick start guide, and the warranty document.
Billed as a feature-loaded A3 duplex 4-in-1 that is an affordable and suitable inkjet option for a home, a home office, or a small office, the Epson WorkForce WF-7710DWF offers print, scan, copy, and fax capabilities for page sizes up to A3. It offers professional-quality duplex printing at speeds of up to 18 ppm and comes with many flexible wireless connectivity options, including NFC, which allows you to print by just tapping the printer with a compatible Android phone.
At the heart of the Epson WorkForce WF-7710DWF is the proprietary PrecisionCore printhead powered by variable-size droplet technology, which relies on 800 nozzles to print in monochrome and 256 nozzles per color to print in color. The minimum droplet size that can be achieved is 3.8 pl, which ensures that the prints produced by the 4-in-1 are comparable to laser prints.
The ink used in the printer takes advantage of DURABrite Ultra technology to deliver crisp and smudge-proof documents and vibrant, dynamic images with excellent color reproduction. The replacement cartridges are available in standard, XL, and XXL sizes, and the best yield from a cartridge can go up to 2,200 pages.
Print Speed and Quality
The Epson WorkForce WF-7710DWF offers a maximum print resolution of 4800 x 2400 dpi and is designed to handle a volume of up to 20,000 prints per month. With an Automatic Document Feed (ADF) that can handle up to 35 pages, a print rate of 18 ppm for monochrome and 10 ppm for color prints for single-sided prints, and a print rate of 8.7 A4 ppm for monochrome and 6 A4 ppm for color prints for duplex prints, the printing is fast and efficient.
The printer uses black, cyan, yellow, and magenta inks to produce excellent quality text and image prints. However, photo prints aren’t the printer’s forte, as the inks don’t produce a shiny finish on glossy photo paper.
The scanner in the Epson WorkForce WF-7710DWF is a contact image sensor type scanner and produces a resolution of 1,200 x 2,400 dpi. Using the flatbed scanner, the scanning speeds are 6 seconds/page for a monochrome scan and 12 seconds/page for color, both at 200 dpi. Using the ADF, the scanning speed is 11 ipm for monochrome and 6 ipm for color, again both at 200 dpi. The scanner can produce outputs in various formats like BMP, PNG, JPEG, TIFF, multi-TIFF, searchable PDF, and PDF.
The fax feature on the Epson WorkForce WF-7710DWF allows a maximum transmission speed of up to 33.6 kbps, which translates to around three seconds per page. It supports black and white as well as color fax. It comes equipped with 6 MB of memory that can hold up to 550 pages. Fax functions like Favorites, PC Fax, Auto Redial, and Speed Dial are supported, with the speed dial directory capable of holding up to 200 names and their numbers.
The Epson WorkForce WF-7710DWF supports a vast range of paper sizes up to A3. The ADF supports 35 pages and the output tray has a capacity for 125 sheets. The printer has just one paper tray, and that is a slight disappointment, but you can order a second tray. The 4-in-1 is compatible with papers ranging from 64 GSM to 256 GSM.
The Epson WorkForce WF-7710DWF has a multitude of connectivity options like Hi-Speed USB compatible with the USB 2.0 specification, Wireless LAN, Wi-Fi Direct, Near Field Communications (NFC). These can be used along with the various mobile and cloud printing services like Epson’s own Epson Connect that includes iPrint, Email Print, Remote Print Driver, and Scan-to-Cloud, as well as with other services like Apple AirPrint, and Google Cloud Print to make printing child’s play.
The Epson WorkForce WF-7710DWF’s killer feature is its ability to print and scan in A3, and it does so with aplomb. It looks great, it’s easy to use, and both print and scan speeds are fast. The list of multifunction A3 printers with an automatic document feeder is short, and we believe the Epson WorkForce WF-7710DWF to be the best of the bunch.
With excellent performance, great results in monochrome and color, affordable printing costs, flexibility in the media that can be used, a wide range of connectivity options including NFC and USB, and a nice assortment of features offered by Epson’s printing apps, the WorkForce WF-7710DWF is an ideal choice for a small office or a home office, especially one that has to deal with A3 documents.
